Our mission is to build financial resilience in low-income communities to enable people to escape poverty.

Vision: A world without poverty

Appropriate Technology

Jamii.one Foundation works with community groups to ensure that they have access to appropriate technology that will strengthen the group’s practices and enable access to resilience building financial services. These efforts include rollout of relevant technology to community groups in particular the Jamii.one Group Application, which Jamii.one Inc. has made available to Jamii.one Foundation free of charge.

Financial Services

Jamii.one Foundation works with community groups and ecosystem actors to enable access to financial services that will allow the poorest to build resilience against shocks. In particular, Jamii.one Foundation is focused on collaborating with local financial institution to develop relevant, affordable and functional financial services. We also collaborate with government and institutional partners including donors to reduce cost of resilience building financial services for the poorest.

Literacy Building

Jamii.one Foundation works with community groups to facilitate and encourage groups to build literacy to further improve the wellbeing of their group. Jamii.one Foundation works directly with community groups to train their digital skills, improve financial literacy and disseminate knowledge about specific, relevant resilience building financial services.

Our Approach

Jamii means community

Jamii.one Foundation has borrowed the Ki-Swahili word Jamii to signify community. This is based on a deep respect and appreciation of the importance and strength of local community. “One” signifies uniting in one (group) as well as the power of one in the group. In everything we do, Jamii.one Foundation works to capacitate existing local community groups in creating a continued positive impact on local society.

Women

The approach of our work is rooted in an understanding of the central positive contribution that women have on local communities. Acknowledging that women currently, on a global basis, currently have less access to financial services and relevant technology, Jamii.one Foundation conducts its work with a strong focus on women’s inclusion and closing the divide. We do this to ensure and contribute to that training, technology, products, services and structures are made equally accessible to both genders.

Join our mission on making a huge social impact and creating a better tomorrow for all.
